Adaptations
Discover some of the unique features and behaviors that help animals survive in their environment throughout the year. Exact activities will vary with the season but will include an outdoor component and a program with one or more of our exhibit animals.
How Plants Grow
In this class, students will learn about the importance of plants and what plants need to survive. Each hike group will go on a scavenger hunt for different types of plants. In the fall the scavenger hunt will focus on seeds and seed dispersal while in the spring it will focus on flowers.
Phenology
Phenology is the study of seasonal changes and how plants and animals adapt to these changes. With this program we let nature dictate what we learn about, but every program will give students an overview of the season, will include an outdoor hike and a visit with one of Westwood’s exhibit animals.
